I have been taking Lyrica for about four years for the burning/freezing pain,
pins & needles and ice-pick stabbing pain. It takes the pin, needles, and
stabbing away and makes the burning tolerable, but doesn't remove it. I take it
every eight hours and know if I forgot it for some stupid reason

Hello Everyone,
As you know I am having the Medtronic pain pump put in. I went for my
first consultation yesterday. Before they put in the pump I have to have a
psychiatric consultation to see if I'm going to be a good candidate.

Hi Frank,
Well I think you covered all the bases. I don't understand anything about these weird sensations we have with TM, but I really don't understand the hot/cold thing. That just throws me.
My neuro is still going back and forth with my insurance company about the Lyrica. We'll see who w

Linda,
For me it starts with the numbness, more numb than can be imagined; Then the
paresthesias ( pins and needles) on top; and then sharp cutting pain like
shards of glass
Linda,
You described it very well. In explaining the tingling/burning, I tell people to sit on their hands and feet for an hour and then try to get up and walk on glass that is on blacktop on a 95 degree summer day. That would be about right.

Hi Mary Eden,
Ok - how do I describe the "burning" - it is neuropathic burning, so it is not something "hot" - my skin can actually feel cold, my legs particularly, but the outside skin burns like it's on fire and is constant and very painful. Like millions of pins and needles on top of my skin.
Hi Lynn - please do not be afraid to try Lyrica. Just make sure your doctor has you start slowly, gradually increasing dosage to the full amount he wants you to take.
I think it is definitely superior to neurontin as far as effectiveness in relieving the constant burning. The doctors told me the
