If SBS is running on the laptop, then yes, you can plug the Touch directly into the laptop. You WILL have to set a static IP address on the Touch and the laptop (on the same subnet of course), unless the laptop is setup as a DHCP server (which is extremely rare). If the Touch tries to connect to a

I think you can, but if it is tied to your laptop, why not just use Squeezeplay running on your laptop with speakers attached to laptop. If you don't like your laptop soundcard, you can even spend a couple of hundred bucks on a USB DAC between the laptop and the powered speakers. -- garym -

I use a modded 7510,and Gary (Gazjam) has previously brought his modded Caiman over to compare.The Caiman is better but not hugely so.The best mods IMO to do to the7510 are the passive mod,and then feed the dac with a good linear supply.Both of these will give you a big jump in sound quality. --
