Did you see the tags (album name, song title, artist...) when you play
them via Music Folder? If not, you should find them under "no artist"
and "no album" and fix them with mp3tag as suggested by many.

Thanks a lot to all who answered. I clearly have a lot to learn! I did
start with mp3tag at the suggestion of one of the earlier respondents
but as an outright beginner I found the accompanying explanatory
material difficult to follow and I'm not at all sure that I am using it
properly.

Yes 1+ to stratmangler and abuti :)
You must personally inspect every tag on everything .
Must add that the " professionals " can be worse than amateurs , some
legally downloaded stuff i got had horrible tagging . Different album
name track numbers that dont fit the compilation etc

Yes. Thanks for the thought but it's not the answer.

which 1 disc appears under 'Artists' but to see the other 9 I h
Of he's accessed them via folder view then they get added without a scan
anyway, handy little trick if you just add the odd album every so often.

The devil is often found in the details of "_seem_ to be tagged
correctly". I don't have LMS in front of me, but I think if you navigate
to the "missing" tracks via Browse Music Folder (using the LMS web ui)
you can drill down to view the tags that LMS is seeing. Take a look

How are you checking the tags? By far the best tagging application I've
used is MP3Tag.
The way I use it to find issues like this is to open all tracks by that
artist, hopefully your folder structure will make this easy, select all
tracks and then open the extended tag window.
This view is usefu

Are any of them listed in the separate various artists/compilations
artist category at the top of the artists view?
I've had this before where I hadn't spotted a subtle difference in the
artist tag of tracks in an album or it has the compilation tag set

Thanks for the suggestion, but that doesn't seem to be the reason. I
did investigate as you said but the files seem to be properly tagged.

Well, not really missing but for some reason certain files only appear
in the Music Folder and not under Artists or Albums. So I can play them
but would much prefer to be able to access them in the usual manner.
