Gone back to 17th November nightly and it's sprang back to life..
Hmm... I guess the relevant changes were applied on Nov 24th, when I
enabled support for https. Why this doesn't work for you I don't know.
I'll try again on my Windows computer once I'm back at the office.

Did I post the right bit? it's a bit odd that the only podcast I listen
to as i fall asleep is the one that will not work. I installed
strawberry perl. And downloaded today's nightly..but still no joy

Just an aside. I was having problems similar with the Fresh Air podcast
which started giving an error something along the lines of redirection
limit reached, which I suspect was it endless bouncing between
http/https. The behavior was the web ui would hang when I put in the url
of the rss, https:/

Thanks, I have been using 7.9 for ages. i used last nights nightly.
Still wont play.
It does for me. What OS/platform are you using? Please check your
server.log for any message about SSL support. You might need to install
IO::Socket::SSL on your system for this to work.
