I am also having problems with 10.10 on my Dell Mini 10. Everything
installs properly but after reboot all that displays on the screen is a
blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner. This has happened with
both the netbook version and the full desktop version.

Quick update: I took the plunge and flashed the acer 5315 bios to the
latest version (1.43) using the technique outlined by Angel GarcĂa
earlier. CPU fan is now functioning properly with 2.6.31-15-generic. :)

Installed kernel 2.6.31-15-generic during update and have regression
with CPU fan. It is not working again after the kernel update. I am
using an acer 5315.
Is there also a new patch for the 2.6.31-15-generic kernel?

Sorry if this sounds basic, but I am relatively new to Linux and am
having the same issue with the overheating acer 5315 (kernel 2.6.31-14).
I would like to apply the patch that seems to be working for all of the
other responders, but am not sure exactly how to do that. Can anyone
