I can confirm that compiling resonably fresh iwl driver from compat-
wireless gives wifi led working. The version of the driver I have tried
was 1.2.26k

I was not precise - my point is to ship both legacy and new rt2x00
modules with gutsy kernel (the way it was in feisty). By means of
blacklisting user will have the choice to use NetworkManager compilant
rt2x00 with poor performance (this can be default) or legacy one with
weird configuration but w
I vote for inclusion of legacy drivers in Gutsy. The user will have the
choice between legacy and new driver by means of blacklisting (as in
Feisty). Current status of the driver for rt2x00 cards is what makes me
NOT upgrade to Gutsy.

Is there legacy driver shipped with Gutsy (and blacklisted)? If so there
is no problem, if not I don't get why it is not done this way. In Feisty
new rt2x00 driver was present but blacklisted (brave one could try
unstable driver) and every one were happy.

Version of the driver included in Gutsy is 2.0.4 while current version
form daily snapshot is marked 2.0.7. Maybe someone could give a try this
new version? Currently I have no access to my Gutsy machine so cannot do

track. m-a seems to unpack source tarball everytime before compilation
so You have to prepare tarball after updating files in /usr/src/modules
/sl-modem and moreover You have to comment out line #include

Gutsy new rt2x00 driver is used. As of 2.6.22-9 version new driver seems
to work with my card but throughput is about two times lower than using

In my opinion gksu should return exit code of wrapped application. It is dumb
to have graphical su/sudo behaving differently than console su/sudo:

rt2x00 drivers shipped with feisty does not work for me either but I
tried rt2x00 from git repository (wireless-dev kernel tree) and this
works correctly. I was able to connect to my WPA protected AP. So it is
a matter of time to see this drivers in mainline kernel.

semiopaque and almost unreadable. System is Xubunt 7.04, "ati"

Irda worked nice with 2.6.15 kernels from dapper. After upgrade to edgy irda
stopped working and in dmesg I can see output like this when trying to call
irattach:
nsc-ircc, unable to allocate dma=4
By the way, in dapper nsc
For me last update (.47) also broke network access. The sky2 worked
correctly. So I was forced to downgrade. Hardware is Marvell 88E8053
(rev19) in Gericom Supersonic PCIE notebook.
