I have the same problem (AMD A8 notebook, Realtek ALC269VC) - all
programs work great except VLC which produces distorted sound. Fiчed by
upgrading to latest VLC (http://www.tecmint.com/install-vlc-2-0-5-in-
ubuntu-12-10-and-linux-mint-14/)
