With Ubuntu 9.10 installed afresh in double-boot (vista) and then
updated, the computer has kernels 2.6.31-14 & 2.6.31-20.
9.10 installs grub-pc, which generates a menu with both kernels (&
vista).
Computer-janitor 1.13.3 (which btw reports 1.11 in Help/About) offers to
remove linux-headers-2.6.3
I've just verified that computer-janitor, in karmic, does indeed suggest
linux-headers-* and linux-image-* for removal.
I also verified that it still suggests packages that "apt-get
autoremove" (packages marked as automatically installed, but nothing
depending on them anymore).

removing packages marked for automatic installation, that no longer in
use.

I am on Ubuntu Desktop 64bit 2.6.28-15-generic. I have found that after
my initial install and first upgrade from repositories that Janitor had
included old kernel headers.

Yes, the Janitor basically does not find/remove any residual config
files after packages are removed. I still use synaptic to remove these
file as Computer-Janitor reports "Nothing was found to clean up". This
would be a good function to add in keeping with the purpose of the tool.
