[Bug 1173836] Re: Upgraded 12.10 to 13.04 and boot will not prompt for disk encryption passphrase
I have a similar issue when I upgraded to Ubuntu 19.10. I was thinking it was a Grub2 issue. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1851031 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1173836 Title: Upgraded 12.10 to 13.04 and boot will not prompt for disk encryption passphrase To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1173836/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes, I swear it mentioned cryptsetup as one of the packages to be removed though I find the command is still available. [Bug 1173836] Re: Upgraded 12.10 to 13.04 and boot will not prompt for disk encryption passphrase
This also happened to me : Lubuntu 12.10 to 13.04 64-bit on a Lenovo U310. I noticed that the installer removed some (as it said) redundant encryption packages. That may be part of the problem. At the moment I am downloading a 13.04 boot disk to try to recover the situation. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1173836 Title: Upgraded 12.10 to 13.04 and boot will not prompt for disk encryption passphrase To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1173836/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1173836/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
