I did the testing on Ubuntu 24.10 in QEMU/KVM setup. Package version 0.7+dfsg2 is, as expected, unusable, and 0.7+dfsg2-4ubuntu0.24.10.1 is playable. Hello! Yep, 0.7+dfsg2-4ubuntu0.24.04.1 is fixed the issue for me. I was able to run the game normally, navigate throught menu, load the 1st and the 2nd levels. Hi again! I paid attention to both points, but: As my e-mail created for LP is currently unavailable, I thought it might be not _super_ important. I noticed that patch in Debian is not fully satisfy DEP-3 requirements and quild suggesting the right format, but thought maybe I understand something wrong, as Debian mainteiner has no problems with it. Hi Dmitriy, Thanks for taking the time to try and carry this through. If one wants to fix a bug in an older release, e.g. Noble (24.04), the SRU (Stable Release Update) policy is to make sure that it is fixed in all subsequent releases that are still supported, in this case Oracular (24.10) to ensure that users don't experience a regression on upgrade. This means you need to provide the debdiffs for both Oracular and Noble. Those debdiffs should be explicitly targeted to their respected series (debian/changelog shouldn't have UNRELEASED). You'll need to take specific care around the version numbers. There's a handy explanation about how to pick proper version numbers at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/UpdatePreparation#Update_the_packaging (it's not just for security uploads). We usually add some metadata to our patches to make ongoing maintenance easier. https://salsa.debian.org/games-team/krank/-/merge_requests/3 here is an MR to Debian's package. No need to carry an Ubuntu delta for this. Don't hesitate to ping around in #debian-games on OFTC in a while if you feel the MR has been forgotten. Once the fix has been pushed to Debian, it will reach Ubuntu devel more or less automatically depending on where we are in the cycle, but for it to reach Noble, you will need to work on making this bug an SRU (https://canonical-sru-docs.readthedocs-hosted.com/en/latest/). Despite the process looking complicated, for this particular case it should be pretty straightforward, and with a diff this small, not too horrible to review for the SRU team. Feel free to ping me on IRC once a step is reached if you need guidance for the next one. Long story short - it is because "imp" module is deprecated.
