[Bug 2106026] Re: Jammy update: v5.15.179 upstream stable release

2025-06-05 Thread Manuel Diewald
@chantra thank you for the report. From what I can tell this might also
affect noble and plucky, since the break commit also landed there.
Unfortunately, it looks like the proposed fix has not been submitted to
[email protected] yet, so it might take a while for it to trickle
down into our kernels via stable updates. We could apply the fix as a
SAUCE patch in the meantime in case this is really critical but we need
a launchpad bug tracking the issue for that. If you want to push for
that, please create a launchpad bug against the kernel describing the
problem and detailing the severity of this. Thanks again.

2025-05-28 Thread chantra
@diewald, Gautham provided a fix in
https://lore.kernel.org/all/[email protected]/ which I
validated.
Seems https://bugs.launchpad.net/kernel-sru-workflow/+bug/2111052 is tracking
the next release. I will post this comment there too hoping that that patch
makes it in -141

[Bug 2106026] Re: Jammy update: v5.15.179 upstream stable release

2025-05-27 Thread chantra
@diewald, this seems to have regressed how max CPU freq shows on AMD
hosts running 5.15.0-140-generic .

I recompiled `5.15.0-140-generic` without `cpufreq: ACPI: Fix max-
frequency computation` and that fixed the issue observed. I reported
this upstream to

https://lore.kernel.org/all/aDaB63tDvbdcV0cg@HQ-GR2X1W2P57/

The patch was targeted to 6.14 and was merged into 5.15.179 through
https://lore.kernel.org/all/2025031356-rerun-remold-30b9@gregkh/

Depending how this goes upstream, could that patch be pulled out of
5.15? I have not checked if this actually impact the CPU effectively
available, but it is at least impacting things like container scheduler
that now believe the host is roughly half the capacity it used to be
causing container scheduling issue for lack of CPU resources.
