[Bug 2107245] Re: Resizing XWayland & X11 windows is extremely slow
Hello Alexander, or anyone else affected, Accepted gtk4 into plucky-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk4/4.18.5+ds-0ubuntu0.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed- plucky to verification-done-plucky. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification- failed-plucky. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping! N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days. ** Changed in: gtk4 (Ubuntu Plucky) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-plucky -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2107245 Title: Resizing XWayland & X11 windows is extremely slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/2107245/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2107245] Re: Resizing XWayland & X11 windows is extremely slow
I can also confirm that patching with https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/merge_requests/8459 at least fixes the performance issue. However, resizing windows remains quite glitchy as seen in the video. Building your own version is pretty simple. Enable deb-src in your apt repository, then the following commands: apt-get source gtk4 apt-get build-dep gtk4 cd gtk4-4.18.4+ds wget https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/merge_requests/8459.patch patch -p1 < 8459.patch dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -uc -b sudo dpkg -i *.deb ** Attachment added: "Screencast From 2025-06-08 14-44-22.webm" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/2107245/+attachment/5882888/+files/Screencast%20From%202025-06-08%2014-44-22.webm -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2107245 Title: Resizing XWayland & X11 windows is extremely slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/2107245/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
