If you experience any more freezes after installing then please follow: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Missing_a_crash_report_or_having_a_.crash_attachment If the machine only has 2GB of RAM then that might also explain the problem. Because I know from experience Ubuntu struggles, freezes and crashes if the machine has less than 4GB.
