I had a working AMD Geode LX800 running Ubuntu Gutsy with the "amd" driver, but
since I upgraded to Jaunty, and switched to the "geode" driver, my screen has a
black margin on the left of the display (about 4cm wide).

On Gutsy, using xserver-xorg-video-amd driver, I could set my screen
rotation by setting the "Rotate" option in xorg.conf. Since I installed
Jaunty, the "Rotate" option doesn't have any effect anymore.

I launched video in vlc, than watched flashvideo in firefox and tried to
open video with totem. After that I copied this log.

The old Intel 2.4 driver combined with the new kernel updates and script has
fixed all screen tearing issues.
Re installing the old 2.4 driver has also now improved the compiz performance
significantly to almost what i was originally getting with intrepid.

Applying the optimal configuration from the following post has fixed the
issues with the screen tearing when scrolling through the lotus notes
documents. The Intel driver is still the same version i was previously
using so the fix must have come in either the kernel updates or in the
fixmtrr.sh scr

chipset but an nvidia nforce 750i. i have to do a hard reboot to get
it working. im currently testing this out to see if the same issues
arises in karmic.

And also my /var/log/Xorg.0.log. I just rebooted from scratch, and had
the problem. i.e. the keyboad repeat was slow, I went to the Gnome Mouse
preferences, slightly moved the slider, and it fixed itself.

Another Compal HEL80/81 Jaunty user here.
Ricardo Faria's fix works instantly, I have back my scrolling and multi-finger
tapping :)

OK... I have switched entirely to 2.6.30-5 + xup and :
1) no direct rendering, KMS OK, plymouth - text only doesn't look good
So I changed to 2.6.30-5 + sarvatt:
1) KDM can't run ... "resolution out of ranges on LCD"
Third option: 2.6.28-11, + sarvatt
1) no KMS, direct rendering FINE

I can confirm this bug is still present on my ST4120P with 9.04 Jaunty
rendering it useless - same X server errors as werthtobi posted.
I can also confirm the old i810 driver worked fine before it was
removed.

normal that they won't work together.

I've tried the new 180.60(beta) and its still unstable.
Nvidia seems to have bad support (or blame the problem) on SMP & SLI which I
have.
So I tried using the kernel boot parameters pci=nommconf and noapic.
But its still unstable.
I'll try and bite the dust with maxcpus=1 :-(
