I spoke with Michael, and we are going to reject the patch for the
nvidia packages in xenial-proposed (already reverted in Yakkety), as he
has a better plan now (so that we don't run into LP: #1589006).
For this reason I am closing the tasks for the nvidia drivers for now.

Trying to reconfigure Xorg not to use the intel driver, I ran:
Xorg -configure :1
This just gave me a black screen with a mouse pointer... Since using the keys
to switch workspaces lead to changes in the mouse pointer, I understood that my
apps where still there, but not displayed...

1) Without the wrapper Xdummy cannot be executed because it tries to
open some virtual console and fails
2) With the wrapper Xdummy cannot be executed either because
