I have a similar problem but on a MacBook 2,2. Everything was fine until I had the keyboard/mouse replaced, so I suspect although I have an older Mac that I am experiencing the same problem on new Macs. I found the following command fixes the problem: xinput set-prop appletouch "Synaptics Finger
