Sorry if I'm wrong, but wouldn't we simply be able to check every second or so whether the settings daemon from the login manager has exited, and only when that one has exited, start the settings daemon for the user? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, whic

This might be a kernel bug. This seems to happen with every version of the Linux kernel past 2.6.35, and it's a lot worse in the 3.x series. Adding `pcie_aspm=force` to the kernel line in grub.cfg also killed my battery in a few weeks time. ** Tags added: kernel-bug linux -- You received this

The computer still gets rather hot (and really hot when forcing Unity on), but it's not a 110°C anymore. Now the hottest it gets (using Unity 2D) is around 90 to 100°C. My personal opinion is that it would be best to get to the source of this heat production, as I've had this problem on another c

I just tried 11.04, it's also using the nouveau drivers (though without Unity, so no 3D support) and it works like a charm. Not sure though if this means it's a problem with Nouveau or with LightDM... ** Description changed: (Not sure if I chose the right package for this bug.) My dads la
