Title:
X.org segfaults when exiting
So you need to go to a TTY _before_ the segfault. I have temporarily
removed the exit command from my fvwm menu to force myself to end X.org
the other way. In the virtual console I issue a 'killall xinit' command
and then I can restart X. You may have to replace xinit with whatever
started X.

As a temporary workaround, you can shut down your computer by closing
your applications, going to a virtual text console (e.g. Ctrl-Alt-F2)
and there issue a 'sudo halt' command.
By the way: I have the problem on both my desktop and my laptop.
