Yeah, that'show I logged in when I got this error from a "root shell with networking". But when I boot normally, there is no network, so SSH doesn't work. I can't even ping the machine. The desktop "appears" normally, but with the "Failed to load HAL" (I think, not sure of the phrasing) error mess
