I can not trigger this bug on my PowerBook 5,6. I get the same "libGL error: failed to load driver: r300"-errors, but the mpeg2 video I tested is played with default settings (video output set so automatic). You can check which output modules are availabe on your machine with "vlc -l | grep -i vid
