When I installed Hardy Heron, I first configured the monitor and then
installed proprietary drivers. Worked well.
Now I've reinstalled Hardy Heron and installed the proprietary drivers
without configuring the monitor first. Again the screen turned black and
"Hz?" appeared.

Hello Bryce,
I installed the new drivers on Jaunty. Here's what I did:
I installed Jaunty updated it, then I added xorg-edgers PPA to my
sources.list. I saw some updates and installed them. When I restarted my
computer, the screen turned black and "Hz?" appeared on the screen. I
couldn't even ins
I've posted a new version of the -nvidia driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?
