There was a new package for soya uploaded to unstable, so it should be in
unstable tomorrow. Eventually this might fix the issues, would be at least
worth a try, however I'd like to see the problem fixed first, before I request
and upstream version freeze exception.

Rebuilding the development libraries eliminates the problematic TK_XINCLUDES
setting and builds the packages (at least on Debian sid)
Please note that the maintainer of gnu-smalltalk in Debian has far more recent

There is a good reason : it does not function correctly with mpg123. You can
see details here :

There are some workaround for using other sound players. But the package
suggest mpg123 which is the simplest and the only which work out of the box.
