This bug affects me too. I have three services declared in
/etc/avahi/services/ in three computers on my local network and I get
only the ssh services through the konqueror/dolphin zeroconf:/ kioslave.
Here is the output of mdns-scan:
s...@bala:~$ mdns-scan
+ Remote Terminal on bala._ssh._tcp
I guess that is done by design (just do cat /usr/bin/rkward to see for
yourself) but I wonder if it is still necessary...

I had the same problem, and it just disappeared yesterday, perhaps after
the latest kde updates and reinstall of rkward... do not know why. But
here is my try to explain:
If you compile rkward from source using the command sequence
cmake .
make
make install
Rkward gets installed in /usr/local/
I am not sure if it is the same problem, but on Ubuntu 8.10 the KDE4
rkward package (version 0.5.0b-2) menu entry does not have an icon on
the KDE 4 desktop.
The problem seems to be this: the appropriate icons are misplaced either
by design (it would be an upstream problem then) or during compilia
