Maybe this has already been said, but .ods files are OpenOffice Calc
files, which cannot be opened with MS software.

Microsoft office plugins do exist to handle ODF Documents. They are very
new and may not yet have full support. Therefore the easiest way to do
this may be to download OpenOffice.org (it's free) and use it to read
and/or convert the documents. Get it from:
http://www.openoffice.org

As you are not subscribed you may not have seen
In OpenOffice, the extension .ods is used for Calc documents (similar to
MS Excel).
