Thanks for your response, Guy. Forgive me, maybe I can't interpret (-- please reply only to users@openoffice.org --), if I am in violation by replying directly to your address. I have been unable to locate any discussion site relative to using OOo on iMac. I'm trying to determine if OOo will be of any value to me. I'm trying to avoid installing Office for Mac and I have been unsatisfied with iWorks. We do simple letter documents, print them on regular 8 1/2 x 11" paper and address 4-line envelopes. If an open discussion group exists that might address this issue, please refer me. Floyd Reid OOo 2.1.0 on iMac Intel DualCore Tiger, MacOSX (X11)
Hello Floyd • Your first mail was to the mailing list of the OpenOffice.org users group. Subscribing isn't obligatory, and maybe you don't want to wade through 50 or more messages a day, since you only use the program to do simple correspondence. If you don't subscribe, it is a good idea to ask to get a copy of answers to your questions ("Please CC: to Floyd Reid..."). The list is users@openoffice.org and you can subscribe by sending an empty mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (and reply again to the automatic message you get from the list's robot) • There is a specific list for the Mac users and developers working with OpenOffice.org. The disadvantage of this list is that you'll find messages about development as well as simple users questions. The list is mac@porting.openoffice.org and you follow the same procedure to subscribe, at [EMAIL PROTECTED] • Please consult OOo's Mac pages at http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/(support, FAQ, download etc.) For your needs, I think Office for Mac is way to expensive, so if you're unsatisfied with iWorks (more fancy than reliable), I'd think OpenOffice.orgis a economic and useful solution. Feel free to ask any questions about OOo at the lists -- Guy using dutch OOo 2.2 RC 2 on a iMac Intel DualCore Tiger and dutch OOo 2.2 RC 2 on a G4 PPC Powerbook Tiger -- please reply only to users@openoffice.org -- Dodoes can't afford to have headaches
