It *may* be that you have accidently turned off the Automatic spell checker. At
the top of the OO window there's a row of icons (buttons). One of them has
"ABC" underlined with a wavy red line. This button turns on/off the automatic
spell checker. If the button is white and contained in a box th
Hello and HELP!
My Open Office version 2.0 spellcheck and auto spellcheck stopped
functioning.
I have intentionally mis-spelled words and neither tool catches the
error(s). It was working just fine this past week. Can you help me?

Thank you in advance,

I am using OpenOffice.org 2.0 with Windows XP. I did a spell check on a
document in Spanish with all the language settings for Spanish except in
Control Panel. The spellcheck froze and the document shut down, but restore
recovered it. I did exactly the same thing again, and the spellcheck wor

I prepare documents in English and Spanish, and I am having a lot of crashes
and other problems when I try to use the spellcheck. I was able to use the
thesaurus once, but it doesn't even give me the option now. I have to go to
tools-options-language and change to the language I will be using
o I know it works. BTW mine is the English UK
dictionary - is that what you want?

hi helmut
this will seem a bit obvious, but what is the language you use to create
your documents in? maybe you have the spellchecker set up for say German
and all the documents you receive are in German, but you use English for
your documents. happened to me before, too.
go to Tools - Options...
I have Openoffice 1.1.4. My auto-spellcheck is turned on but it will not work
on new documents I create. It only works on MS Word documents I import from
other sources or authors. Can you suggest a fix or setup change to correct this
problem.
Thanks,
