To perform arithmetic, you must tell Calc that you wish to perform arithmetic. You do this with the equals sign. Instead of just entering 6+5 try =6+5 and that will make it do what you are asking. Generally, the equal sign will be the very first character that you enter. Otherwise, Calc thin

Hi, I suggest you read the user guides at documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/index.html> To have Calc perform a calculation you need the following syntax: =YOUR SUM HERE or by highlighting a cell clicking on the = next to the input field then enter your sum Hope this helps

I'm using the calc program to do a simple spreadsheet and I can't get it to add numbers. I've tried 6+5 and hitting enter and it doesn't work, as my interpretation of the help instructions indicated it would. What am I doing incorrectly? Thanks. _
