That sounds exactly like what I am looking for. I hadn't realized there was not
already a way to copy checked items.

Yes exactly what you've said so far, but once I have the list sorted and
checked I would like to make a list containing only the checked items from all
the sublists. I could then handle this list for each trip to the store.
