Well Ive made some serious breakthroughs .. Ive managed to get xastir 1.90
working with raster maps of a fashion.. Ive had little time this last week
to spend on this but last night I thought I would try and get ImageMagick to
compile .. It didnt work which is no real suprise

There's no "Universe" repository for Debian under apt
but you do need to check that your repositories are at
least set for "main", "contrib", and "non-free".
These two config lines should get you just about
everything in stable form:
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ woody main contrib
non-free

ies. Other Debian/Ubuntu users may have more input on which
repositories are needed.

Some of us use apt on fedora and centos systems, too. Interestingly,
some of the apt repositories have different holdings than rpm/yum
repositories.

Having problems compiling.. Last time I tried this 3 years ago I gave
up.. Iam way out of my depth here which is alot closer than 3 years
back.. Here goes.. Would love to see this go somehow. Ive spent a week
on and off with this so far and have some progress. The configur
