Right now, Sun is basically rubbing its chin and saying "Hmmmmm" to the idea. One analyst said that Linux would have to somehow flub on Intel for an open Solaris to catch on -- and that it's not flubbing at all. OPEN-SOURCE J2EE 1.4 GETS SUN GREEN LIGHT | ComputerWire Now that Sun has proclaimed all of the APIs in J2EE 1.4 may be open-sourced, the boss at JBoss says his company has wrapped up its implementation of J2EE 1.4 -- the first open-source version of the latest J2EE spec. It should be ready next year with JBoss's application server. JUDGE COMPARES MICROSOFT TOP HARDING'S THUGS | Reuters Microsoft is skating on thin ice with U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz. He compared the way MS has treated Sun and Java to the way Tonya Harding and her thugs treated Nancy Kerrigan. Motz is hearing Sun's suit to force Microsoft to include Sun's Java in Windows XP. He said he would make his decision within ten days on whether to grant Sun a preliminary injunction to keep Microsoft from distributing its own Java technology.
