Hi,

The "don't use" is more an advice than an order :) You can use it, but it's
just slow and not user friendly, that why I think it's far better to use
other tools.

In fact the only plugin that use it is the check_ping for a html output that
will call traceroute.cgi. So I think if this value is mandatory, you can put
whatever you want, it will have no impact for you :)
