Hi all,

Great news, the 0.8 is out :)

What's new in this version? Aside from the classic bug fixes, there are some
cool new features :

   - business impact (was criticity) modulation based on timeperiods. Now if
you want your paid server to be "important", only 3 days a month, you can :)
   - business rules enhancements, with powerful ways for managing degraded
   modes
   - by default, no event handlers during downtimes

One of the two big things is the GLPI modules. Now you can have nearly all
your configuration in GLPI (hosts, services, contacts, timeperiods) in GLPI,
and you can have all alerts push back in GLPI too!

The other big one is the Web interface. It's designed to be simple, and push
Shinken ideas in the UI sphere part. You can test it in the demo environment
at http://demo-shinken.web4all.fr:7767/ (admin/admin).
It's not design to be a Thruk or Centreon drop in. Theses UIs will be more
"complete" than this one. The goal of this UI is to be the "Gnome" UI of
monitoring console : simple, but powerful :)
It's not done of course, a lot of work is still in progress in it, so all
ideas and help are welcomed :)

The UI documentation is near to be null, so I will take some days to wrote
it, especially for existing modules like Active directory authentication
things.

Modules will be added in this UI to link it with others one, like NagVis or
PNP. the main idea is to make this UI the first one admin look at, and
others for more precise things.

With the discovery modules, the WebUI is a move from the "tool" to the
"solution" point of view for Shinken. We should help the users as much as
possible, especially in the first installation phase. Every idea that can
help Shinken beginners is welcomed, like new sample configuration commands
or discovery rules. Shinken should not be a "expert" dedicated project.
There are plenty of expert things in it, enough for 10years of experts
problems (ok, 2/3 years maybe :p).

I'll focus my efforts on beginners problems and bug fixes for the 1.0
release that should be out for the end of the year :)

Remember that the project need installations references, so if you are using
it, please send me a mail, I'm creating a reference page in the website, so
we can go from the "young" project to a more mature one :)

Good monitoring to all, and take fun with this new release :)

Jean
