I fixed this before but my solution is flawed somewhere because it does not always work, your mileage may vary. apt-get remove gnome-terminal apt-get clean (brutal, no more cache, only if you are sure or on cable) apt-get update apt-get install gnome-terminal First time I tried this worked, second time it did not.
