Hi Peter Boot the G5 iMac holding down T on the keyboard to send it into Target Disk Mode, connect via firewire to your new iMac then use Disk Utility on the new iMac. Click on the device name (not the disk name) in the list of available disks, then click on erase > security options > depending on how secure you want to be choose either a zero format or a 7 pass format) then click on Erase.
