I've switched just the crystals with success, but you should be aware of 
the dot codes on the JR crystals.

There are 3 little dots on the bottom of the TX and the RX crystal.  I've 
heard that matching the dots with the TX and the RX is the optimum, and you 
can safely be off by one dot.  But don't match a TX and a RX crystal with a 
left and a right dot.
