.In the prelims I(Miller) flew 5 rounds with and EspadaR,2 rounds with the new PIKE PERFECT, and 1 round with the Pike Superior. The conditions were mostly severe with high wind. The2 rounds that I flew the PERFECT the wind layed down. Mine is  a carbon 68 version, so I am using that as my light air model and protecting it for the WORLDS. I won the prelims(first) with this combination, effectively with no throw outs and good fortune, so a pretty good mix for the conditions. My flyoffs were disasterous, placing 5th due to my own doing. The USA team would have won the team victory with a 1st, 2nd, and 8th, followed closely by  Team RMSA  Lewan, Kappus, and Keer, or team canada

Joe(Wurts) was planning on flying his Supra, but it was destroyed in practice, launching on a winch in medium wind.He had a spar failure in the main wing panel a few inches out from the centerline of the Fuse. He only had his trusty Icons to enter the contest, and flew his very strong carbon one, most of the time. 2nd in the prelims and 1st in the flyoff

Tom (Kiesling) flew a stock Supra I believe of kevlar(but not positive) and his trusty Supra that he builds himself. he missed the flyoffs by afew spots

On the Junior side, Newcomb flew x tail Escape for almost all of the prelims, and a few Espada Flights . he was 6th in prelims flying xtail escape only. In flyoffs he flew espada rplacing 4th

Remington flew an Espada, Fazer ,and a Supra. he was plagued with very bad luck, and lost too many models

Bob Lewan flew only Pike Superiors, and had the pilot vote not shut down the flyoffs early, was in good position for improving his standing He was 3rd in Prelims and 3rd in flyoff

Arend Borst flew  Supras with a Carbon center section and normal strength supra tips tips. heplaced7th missing the flyoffs by 1 spot

His team mate Rolf Otter flew carbon supra and regular supra. He placed 4th inprelim  and 2nd in flyoff

Monaco flew Icon and 1 flight of Supra

Dr dan flew Icons

Keer flew Espada R and escape xtail

Kappus flew his own original design, and was probably the lightest model on the field

Averill flew Escapes

Hope this helps, it was a great practice for the USA Team with Seniors putting 2 (Miller and Wurtsin the flyoffs, and Juniors putting 1 in the flyoffs.(Newcomb). team canada put 1 in the flyoffs((Otter)

It was organized by Monaco and the RMSA(tony ohara, scorekepper) perfectly..... but the conditions were mostly brutal...specifically the flyoffs.and i've been in a few of these things.

Subject: [RCSE] F3J in the Rockies ...Sailplanes Flown???? Argh! :-)

We are happy that those who won, won, but everyone of them, when reading the results of a contest they didn't attend, would want to know who flew what :-)

We don't win or lose a contest by ourselves...we have a partner who does the in the air part. Only fair it gets mentioned too :-)

Please?

Gordy :-)
