David,
I watched this horror unfold before me on
television, in the small hours of this morning,
here in New Zealand.
I still feel stunned at the magnitude of it.
While driving to work this morning, I looked
at those driving past me and everyone seemed
to be in the same state, blank expressions with
no normal emotion on their faces, (much as you
described.)
The effect of this act has obviously been felt
around the world and I can only hope that
the individuals who perpetrated this crime
are brought to justice.
