Hi Pete,

The first thing I did was to look up the Condor on the NSP site to refresh
my memory of the Condor. First thing I see is a plane with almost no LE
sweep and a fair amount of TE Sweep (forward). The drawing shows a 230cm
root chord (a bit under 10") A cg point is shown that is about 25% of the
root chord which would be about 2-1/2" back from the LE. That looks about
right to me for starting out. I think that Sal is way off the mark for
this airplane at 43% back. (Just my experienced opinion :-) )

So I'd recommend that you get both the CG and the hook forward before you
try again. You will be much better off if you can get a pilot more
experienced with this class of plane to trim it out for you. Once its set
up and trimmed you can probably handle it easily.

OPINION: I do not think that any sailplane with a V-tail should be
classified as an Intermediate airplane. All v-tails should be considered
expert airplanes. Pilots can purchase and fly whatever they want but it
does a disservice to the soaring community to label a v-tail as an
intermediate plane. You guys moving up to higher performance aircraft
would do well to keep that in mind. V-tails fly just fine, thank you, but
getting them set up correctly takes skill beyond what most intermediate
pilots posses.
End of rant.

Rick
