Upper Nile State Gets New Cabinet
The Governor of Upper Nile State Simon Kun Puoc on Wednesday issued a
decree appointing the new State Cabinet ministers after dissolving his
government two days before.

*MALAKAL, 22 November 2013 [Gurtong] -* Kun, who was expected to reduce the
cabinet into a leaner government like it was done in the national
government and other states but kept the cabinet figure to 14 ministers.

The governor has merged the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs with that of
Parliamentary Affairs, as the Ministry of Cabinet and Parliamentary
Affairs. He also created a new Ministry of Petroleum, Mining and Industry
in the state.

The ministry of health has become Ministry of Health and Hygiene.

In the cabinet, seven are new faces and the seven others were reappointed
into the government. Like in the previous cabinet, there is only one female
minister.

*The New Cabinet:*

1. Hon Philip Akol Amuon- Minister for cabinet and parliamentary affairs
new compound ministry.

2. Simon Duop Puk - Minister for Trade Commerce and Investment, maintained
his ministry.

3. Dr Opal Adwok Amon - Minister for health and Hygiene, replacing Dr
Charles Yor.

4. Franicis Ayul Yor – Minister for Petroleum, Mining and Industry, new
Ministry

5. Gwinye Philip Chan - Minister for Labour, Public Service and Human
Resources switching with

Ayong Awre for the Minstry of Finance

6. Hon Pal Ruac Doap - Minister for Local Government and Law enforcement,
replacing James Ruac Kun

7. Hon Chuol Diep Kiir – Minister for Animal Resources and Fisheries,
taking over the position of Joseph Deng Foraj who is now appointed as the
Acting Speaker in the state Legislative Assembly

8. Ayong Awer Lual – Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, switching
with Gwinye Philip Chan who has now become Minister for Labour, Public
Service and Human Resources.

9. Elijah Liej Beny – Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Rural
Development, maintained his ministry.


10. Hon Dhieu Chan Liol – Minister for Agriculture and Forestry, replacing
Deng Ajuot


11. Hon James Kan Joak – Minister for Education, Science and Technology,
replacing Daniel Wuor.


12. Maria Kunijwok Kwawang – Minister for Gender, Child and Social Welfare
replacing Jacqueline Jawel.

13. Gatluak Liphoth Diew – Minister for Youth, Culture and Sports,
replacing Awer Dau Agany who was appointed as an advisor for food and
environment.

14. Mr. Philip Jiben Ogal – Minister for Information and Communication
maintained his ministry.

The members of the cabinet that were left out are:

1. Yiei Puoc Lur – Minister for Cabinet Affairs

2. James Ruac Kun – Minister for Local Government and Law Enforcement

3. Awer Dau Agany - Minister for Youth, Culture and Sports.

4. Charles Yor Odhok - minister for health

5. Deng Ajuot Deng - Minister for Agriculture and Forestry

6. Daniel Wuor Joak – Minister for Education, Science and

7. Jacqueline Jawel Jago - Minister for Gender, Child and Social Welfare.
