The following commands are working:
RHEL4: up2date --update --packagedir=/dir
RHEL5 yum localupdate /dir/*
When I run up2date above on rhel4, I've got an error saying 'up2date A protocol
error occurred: Internal Server Error...'. Any idea?
Thanks!

Thanks. I'd like to use up2date for rhel4 and yum for rhel5 to do the jobs.
I've downloaded the packages needed for patching to a local directory by using:
#up2date --update --download --channel=rhel_4_x86_64 --tmpdir=/var/download
Now what up2date options can I use to patch the system by using the local
directory /var/download?
Thanks!

Hi,
Under Organization-setup (log in as SPW Administrator), you can check "Enable
Staging Contents".
Systems will then fetch packages first, and then patch.
Martin
Hi,
I've patched some systems and the processes took long time. For example, two
systems took over 10 hours to patch 30~40 packages. I don't know if it's a
Spacewalk server's GUI issue.
Is there a way to download all packages to the local drive first, then do
patching? Is yumdownloader a good tool to do the job?
Thank you!
