Craig IMHO you are up for an explosion more than a fire: you have suspended fine fuel, air, confinement, all you need is a spark
Suggest vyou consider spark detection as in Firefly or Grecon for activation as you will noty have much time to dump water or drychem on it. Once spark is detected dump water, gas, drycvhem as you see. Do they have magnetic detectors/shutdown? Sorry in a jotel room in Bangkok this is the best FM has a DS on dust system just don't carry the CD with me anymore. THIS MESSAGE ORIGINATED ON THE INTERNET - Please read the detailed disclaimer below. ***************************************************************************** We can get some odd ball stuff. This is a materials conveying system, conveying styrofoam dust particulate, the duct is HDPE and is buried 4-6 ft below the slab. The duct is 48" in Dia. There are 48" round manways with open grates on them every 100 ft or so. The total length of this duct system is over 500 ft. It picks up foam dust from equipment as well as from the floor. The challenge, protect this duct based on it's combustible nature and the nature of the materials being conveyed. Steel duct is not an option since the duct is direct buried. What's your approach?
