It is important to note that we are not pushing for replacement, we just pointed out the corrosion to the owner in the course of other work and they requested we price the replacement along with another contractor. My only question is that is there any evidence from a practical standpoint that one or the other is better than the other? My experience has been that Galvanized holds up better.
BUT, on one end of the main there is a threaded 90 and this pipe is scary looking enough that I will not even touch it with my fingers.
