Thanx for the quick reply,

I have found out, that the smb_auth and also your command above works
only on linux-systems with installed samba 3.x. On the old machine
we have samba 2.2.5. And on this, both commands do not work.
Is it possible that W2k3 requires samba > 3.0 to get connected to the
ADS ?
