I soldered 4 alcalic penlights together, and now I have two Deskpro 286/12 running on
them (one set in each,
of course). Compaq says it takes a trained technician to replace the batteries, so I
think there is no reason to
take their advices to seriously. Before the CMOS was probably running on 1-2 volts,
four penlights give some
5,8 volts at their best. I would not use more than 7 volts though.
