DAKAR, Senegal -- The 2004 Olympic marathons will be run in the evening instead of the
morning, track and field's ruling body decided Saturday.

The men's and women's 26.2-mile races will start at 6 p.m. local time. Greek
organizers originally planned a 7 a.m. start because they wanted to avoid the worst of
the Athens summer heat.

The marathons are scheduled for Aug. 28-29, the last two days of the two-week
Olympics.
