Is it worth making newsyslog use the syslog API instead of directly
writing to the top of the file?
Perhaps even integrating this functionality into syslogd so it can use
the existing infrastructure, and LOG_SYSLOG facility, fork+privsep
style:
[syslogd]->|->[syslogd:logger]
|->[syslogd:rotate]
