We have the following requirement.
Requirement: Oracle/SQL DBA, Location:Chicago, IL.
LOCAL candidates to CHICAGO, IL , PREFERRED
IF QUALIFIED IN PHONE INTERVIEW, "in person" interviews are required
Administers, maintains, develops and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company database. Implements data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes; resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues. May require a bachelor's degree in a related area and 6 - 8 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Require 50/50 Oracle/SQL experience. Consultant should not be only Oracle or all SQL. DBA role will be doing security changes on many Oracle/SQL Servers
Size of the environments must be clearly articulated in their resumes, both # of data bases which they supported along with the sizes for SQL instances and Oracle instances for the past TWO years. Oracle/SQL Data Base Administrators must be responsible for 50 or more production databases at one time. This is a must and mandatory, as the responsibility solely will be for 50 plus db’s in this position, they also should clearly have substantial SQL Server & Oracle work. And more important is, SQL Server “skill” is just not a skill statement but must have worked with both SQL Server and Oracle, and this working shoul be very recent.
As this is not for a specific project. It is a production support work for existing databases and applications. So the need is for someone who has experience doing base support, as opposed to project work. Day to day phone calls and email requests, enhancements and table changes, production to test refreshes, things that are broken and need to be fixed, enhancing existing UNIX monitoring scripts, etc.
Required Skills:
SQL Server DBA skills - installing SQL server, backup and recovery, performance and tuning.
• Oracle DBA skills - Oracle 9 required, 10g nice to have.
• Support for oracle on Unix/Intel (AIX, HP, Windows).
• Unix korn shell scripting for monitoring oracle.
• Oracle backup and recovery using RMAN.
• Oracle performance and tuning.
• Oracle installs and upgrades - patching.
• Oracle proactive monitoring.
• Oracle database design.
• Oracle utilities like export / import for complicated database refreshes.
• Perl skills - familiarity with perl - we are using it to monitor SQL server.
Optional but nice to have:
• DB2/UDB DBA
• Teradata DBA
• Veritas NetBackup experience
• HP Openview experience
• HP Perf View and/or Glance
• Linux experience • HP Perf View and/or Glance
• Linux experience
Security and patching experience for both Oracle and SQL Server.
