Welcome to MS Carol.  <smiling>

I'm sorry you have MS but I'm glad you have a diagnosis so you can start treatment.

I was on Avonex for years.  I did well with it with minimal side effects.  It 'smoothed out' my symptoms and I felt so good that I was convinced I no longer needed it.  So I quit Avonex in 2003.  Now I know that was an extremely foolish decision.  I just had a new series of MRIs done on June 15th and it's not good news.  The MRI shows progression with the report saying "findings have worsened in the interval".  My last MRIs were in 2003 just before I stopped Avonex.   I will be seeing my neurologist soon to get back on some sort of meds.  I will also have to make a decision about which one to choose.

What disease modifying drug does your doctor recommend?   I would also invite you to join MSersLife (my group) if you are interested in getting even more opinions on meds.  http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/MSersLife/

Good luck in your decision making and I'll be interested in hearing what your doctor suggests.

Ok....after much deliberation and 3 relapses, my doctor is going to change my diagnosis to MS and start me on shots.  I'd like to know about your experience with the shots and what all of you are taking.  Thanks for your input.
