I guess I should have clarified a little better. I had been experiencing back pain for 3 or 4 days, but attributed it to working from sun-up to sun-down at our town's festival. Apparently there was more going on than I realized. From the point of excruciating pain in lower back to paralysis was 10 minutes. What led up to the onset might have been days in coming. Myelitis is an inflammation of the myelin; I don't believe any infection can have such a sudden onset. Moreover, my spinal fluid was clear of white blood cells that would have been marshaled to fight an inflammation. I, perhaps we, had an infarction of a branch artery within the cord.
