Hello, Having previously reported a problem with Tor browser automaximizing itself on my small Ubuntu Unity screen [bugs.torproject.org/9738], I decided my life was too easy and switched my OS to Debian with GNOME 3.
In case you aren't aware, this is a problem because https://blog.torproject.org/blog/effs-panopticlick-and-torbutton. I've tried three versions of TBB on this system - stable, alpha, and 3.0alpha. The first two behaved normally, opening their windows at what looks like a multiple of 200x100. 3.0alpha, however, opens automaximized every time. The fix in Unity was to use compizconfig-settings-manager's 'Unity Plugin' to set the 'automaximize' threshold to 100, but that doesn't work in Debian because compizconfig-settings-manager is nowhere to be found in apt-get. I've tried all the fixes suggested at http://askubuntu.com/questions/154377/how-to-disable-auto-maximize-windows-in-gnome and https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-shell-list/2013-June/msg00002.html, to no avail. Can anyone tell me what is going on? Like I say, this appears only to be an issue with 3.0alpha.
